WHAT EXACTLY IS A SITTER SESSION?
Sitter sessions are for babies approximately 6-9 months old or when a baby is sitting up securely unaided before they start to walk. Often parents plan on getting photos of their newborn done, but sometimes they miss the boat since a brand new baby is so much work. Therefore, the next best phase to photography your baby is when they can sit up!
These are fast becoming a favourite. It’s wonderful to see that cute ‘sleepy’ newborn come back for their sitter session. Now they are interactive and have cheeky smiles and a personality to match!
If you have been considering a photography session for your little cherub, here are 5 reasons this age range makes an ideal time to schedule that session.
BABY IS SITTING UP
When a baby is sitting up unaided, outfits can be viewed easily. You have a lot more variety than when photographing a newborn regarding outfits and props etc. I should also note that I do have a large selection of adorable outfits in the studio, so there is no need to stress over what they should wear. NO PLAYING CHASE:
Let’s be honest, how many of you have tried to chase your 18 month old with a camera in hand? Trust me, when those little ‘angels’ are running around, it’s hard work! Those little tots don’t know how or when to slow down! At this age they tend to be very easy to entertain and getting those adorable smiles are easily achieved with a simple game of peek-a-boo!
This ties into the first two reasons why a Sitter session is the best time to shoot. Most parents don’t realise how long it can take to do even a simple session. Newborn sessions can run anywhere from 2 – 5 hours due to feeding, and getting baby to sleep. A sitter session can usually be completed in about an hour, and you will still have a variety of poses and set ups. So instead of having to spend the best part of the day at the studio, you could literally only be spending an hour. It’s a sin for parents and babies alike!
We all know that kids generally go through a shy stage. Some are scared of men, some are scared of women, and some toddlers just don’t like new people at all. When your baby is at the sitter stage, it is so much easier to connect and get the smiles you want without being that weird stranger your tot doesn’t like.
THE CUTEST STAGE:
Honestly, babies around 6-9 months are just plain adorable with their chubby little arms and legs, and those big round eyes. This is a time in your babies life you will want preserved.
So there you are! Five reasons why the sitting stage is the perfect time to photography your baby.
